Welcome to Yorkshire Craftsman, a UK-based company providing premium Japanese-style kitchen knives and accessories. By accessing our website or purchasing our products, you agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.


1. Legal Age & Knife Sales (UK Law)

Under the Offensive Weapons Act 2019, it is illegal in the UK to sell knives to anyone under the age of 18.

By purchasing from our website, you confirm that:

  • You are 18 years of age or older.
  • You understand that we may require age verification before dispatch.
  • You will not supply our products to anyone under 18.

We reserve the right to cancel orders or request identification if we suspect a breach of this policy.


2. Responsible Use & Knife Safety

Our knives are professional-grade kitchen tools. They must be used with care and only for culinary purposes. We are not responsible for injury, damage, or misuse resulting from improper handling.

Customers are responsible for:

  • Using knives safely and in accordance with UK law.
  • Keeping knives out of the reach of children and minors.
  • Using the knives only for food preparation – not for prying, hunting, or non-culinary use.
  • Storing knives securely in a knife block, sheath, or magnetic strip.


3. Knife Sharpening & Blade Maintenance

Dull knives are dangerous. To maintain both performance and safety:

  • Sharpen your knives regularly with a whetstone or professional service.
  • Use honing steel between uses to maintain blade alignment.
  • Avoid sharpening methods that may damage the blade or void any warranty.

4. Product Care

To keep your knife in top condition:

  • Hand wash only – never use a dishwasher.
  • Dry immediately after washing to prevent rust or handle damage.
  • Oil wooden handles occasionally to preserve finish and prevent cracking.
  • Avoid cutting on glass, marble or stone surfaces.

Failure to follow care instructions may shorten the product’s life or affect eligibility for returns/warranty claims.


5. Warranty & Returns

We offer a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Improper use or sharpening
  • Rust or stains due to poor care
  • Dropping or impact damage

If your item arrives faulty or damaged, you must contact us within 14 days of receipt. Returned products must be unused and in original packaging.

6. Shipping & Delivery (UK & International)

We offer tracked UK delivery. Estimated delivery times will be shown at checkout.

  • You’ll receive tracking details once your order is dispatched.
  • Delivery delays due to strikes, weather, customs, or courier errors are outside our control.

International customers: You are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, or local import fees.


7. Liability Disclaimer

We, Yorkshire Craftsman, will not be liable for:

  • Injury, loss, or damage resulting from misuse or mishandling.
  • Use of products in breach of UK knife laws.
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Failure to follow proper care, maintenance, or age restrictions.


8. Intellectual Property

All images, copy, branding, and design on this website are the property of Yorkshire Craftsman. Unauthorised reproduction or distribution is prohibited.


9. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
